Paper 1. New and Old Science Behind My Work at CALM

Published:

I have written 3 Papers which include excerpts from other MMN and many Links and Videos which summarise the new and old science involved with the subconscious mind. For instance changing Neural Pathways is now called Neuro Plasticity.

The reason I have written these 3 papers is because I believe the content is essential for all of us to know and understand how we can use the subconscious mind to enhance our wellbeing. Furthermore, these papers will remind or inform you of the critical content and secondly the papers are useful  to forward to your friends thereby spreading the message regarding the power of the subconscious mind.

In case you haven't seen it here is my 7 minute Video Introduction

The 3 Papers are Titled:

Paper1. What are the CALM Techniques (this MMN)
Paper2. About the Subconscious Mind Taken From Various MMNs
Paper3. What Some of Today’s Trainers Say About the Same Subject

Selected Supporting Videos About the Subconscious Mind

There are 6 Videos which impart all the essentials to deliberately use your subconscious mind. It is best to do one video per day and then ensure you do the home work suggested in each Video. This course helps towards my Life's Purpose of enabling people to understand and deliberately use their own power. Go to this Link

Paper 1. What Are the CALM Techniques

Resilience is what I really teach about (since 1988) although I have called it by different names – Inner Strength and Mental Toughness being two. Today’s word is Resilience.

My Definition
My definition is this: “Resilience (Inner Strength or Mental Toughness) is that deep quality of our mind and spirit that enables us to create opportunities in life or rise above adversity. I'm saying you don't have to go through adversity to rise above it – you can just tap "Resilience". It is an inherent part of our creation (or existence) as beings and it allows us to rise above adversity if and when it strikes.”

My Italian Trip to 173rd Airborne Brigade to do Presentations on Resilience

Introduction
I was invited to attend as a DV (Distinguished Visitor) to address and take part in the US Army's 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) Training Program on the topic of Resilience. The Brigade is based mainly in Vicenza Italy and is the premier unit to react in Europe as and when called upon by the US Army. The timings were from 28 July to 3 August 2014 which was in the Brigade's Bayonet Week of celebrations.

In Vietnam in 1965/66 this unit was known as 173rd Airborne Brigade and had, under command, 1 Royal Australian Regiment Group (1 RAR Gp). As a Captain I commanded 3 Field Troop, Royal Australian Engineers and was in support of 1 RAR Gp. Thus at different times throughout the tour I was under direct command of 173rd Airborne Brigade. (There are links to My Diary and my  presentations to 173rd Airborne Brigade in Italy below.)

Background
In March 2009 Lt Col (now Brigadier) Rupert Hoskin, Commander of 3 Combat Engineer Regiment (3 CER), was conducting a mental toughness and leadership exercise called “Plan Shackleton” in the Tully Training Area North of Townsville for his soldiers about to embark for Afghanistan. Lt Col Hoskin invited me to address his soldiers on Mental Toughness at the immediate conclusion of the exercise.

The soldiers had endured hardships of lack of food, little sleep, strenuous exercise and were wet and uncomfortable over the 5 day exercise. Lt Col Hoskin was aware of my personal experiences of using mental powers to assist me in overcoming tragedy, my current public work with the subconscious mind and the fact that I was a retired Colonel having been awarded a Military Cross and a US Bronze Star in Vietnam conflicts. My immediate challenge was to keep the soldiers at Tully awake for 2 hours.

Maj Aaron Cox was a US Exchange Officer attached to 3 CER and was the Executive Officer (XO) of 3 CER. He attended the presentation titled “Mental Toughness” delivered by me. Subsequently Maj Cox was posted as XO of the Special Troops Battalion of 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) based in Italy.

US Army Training Directive
As part of its current directive to US Army units, emphasis is to be placed on the “Ready and Resilient Campaign”.

I was invited to talk on:
1. My link to 173rd Brigade
2. Some of my experiences in Vietnam.
3. What it means to be resilient and thoughts on moving forward to cope with tough times.

I Believe That Part of Resilience is Forgiveness

About Forgiveness
I have been talking publically about Forgiveness (including appearing on various media) since 1987 and teaching about it  since 1988.

The key question is – “Who is forgiveness for?” The answer is “For yourself”. The aggressor does not need to know about forgiveness for your forgiveness to be effective for you. When an unspeakable act has been perpetrated towards you then feelings of hatred, anger and revenge are understandable.

The problem is that if you hang onto these feelings for too long then they, the feelings, will become habits. When they are habits within you then “who do they hurt?” that’s right only you and then you become an angry, hateful person.

If you would like to read much more on the subject then have a look at my MMNs at the following links:

So, know that this is the first of 3 papers about my work which when you put into practice will significatly contribute to your well being.

All the best
